Laura Kraut and Cherry Knoll Farm’s Constable Capture $34,000 CSIO 1.45m Classic Second Place Finish at WEF
Laura Kraut is taking Cherry Knoll Farm’s Constable to new heights at the 2015 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), consistently ranking at the top of the leader board with the 8-year-old Dutch Warmblood. The pair first made a name for themselves throughout Europe, and then returned to the United States to kick off the 2015 show year with a remarkable eighth place finish in Constable’s first FEI class during the $34,000 FEI Thursday Prix at HITS Ocala in mid-February. During WEF week eight, Kraut duplicated their efforts with a second and third place finish in the $34,000 CSIO 1.45m Classic and $10,000 CSIO Speed Stake, respectively.
Constable has proven himself as both a speed track horse and a future international champion. During the fifth week of The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour Series, Kraut and Constable captured the third place finish over the 1.45m track.
Kraut said of their consistent show record, “He has been very good while down here. He is an 8-year-old, and normally they go through this phase where they think they know more than they do. When you step them up and they make a few mistakes, it allows for them to become more mature. I am really pleased with how he has matured, and I believe that he has true potential to go to the highest level.”
The pair faced off against a field of 31 competitors on Friday, February 27. They went against the speed demons hailing from Chicago, Lisa Goldman and Morroco, who took first place with a blazing time of 59.66 seconds. Georgina Bloomberg and South Street followed close behind with a time of 60.12 seconds, while Kraut and Constable took a more conservative yet speedy track to finish third in 63.65 seconds.
They’re third place finish set the duo up perfectly for Saturday morning’s $34,000 CSIO 1.45m Classic. Out of a field of 42 competitors, Kraut and Constable took the second place finish, only six one-hundredths of a second behind first place finisher Andres Rodriguez. They broke the beam in 59.61 seconds for a remarkable second place finish.
