Team USA Ties for Silver in Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen

The Hermès U.S. Show Jumping Team tied for the silver medal with Switzerland in the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup CSIO5* at CHIO Aachen, behind gold medal home team, Germany. The United States team consisted of Kent Farrington, Beezie Madden, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward.

Farrington was first in the ring for the United States with his and Robin Parksy's Gazelle, acquiring 8 faults. Madden followed aboard Abigail Wexner's Coach, repeating the 8-fault penalty. Laura Kraut and Old Willow Farms' 10-year-old mare Zeremonie followed, kicking up the competition and going double-clear in both round one and two. McLain Ward and HH Azur, owned by Double H Farm and François Mathy, anchored the team with additional double-clear rounds.

After the drop score, the American team went into round two with 8 faults. Their careful rides gained no additional faults with Farrington returning first to ride his 11-year-old mare to a clear second round. Madden and the 9-year-old bay gelding had two unfortunate rails, finishing with 8 faults as the drop score in round two.

Kraut and Ward tied with five other riders to complete two rounds of jumping fault free. Germany completed the competition with 0 total faults.
